Computer Software
Coburg Elementary Coburg
School has suffered greatly as a result of budget cuts. We receive money
from the community and this is a great help, but we have had to make many
sacrifices. One thing that is in desperate need of improvement is our
technology instruction. Coburg School has outdated computers and software
and our students are not receiving the technology training that they need
and deserve. We now have a plan to put together a computer lab where
teachers can bring groups of students to receive specific technology
instruction. This project will allow our students to learn keyboarding
skills that will benefit them at the elementary level as well as when they
move on to higher grades. It is important to start teaching our students
keyboarding now or they will not have the necessary skills which students
coming from other schools have. The
keyboarding program will be used primarily with third, fourth, and fifth
grade students. About 70 students will be served. We will
evaluate the success of the project through improvements made in the speed
and accuracy of keyboarding, through observation and lesson outcomes. Yes, we use
computers only in the classroom now. By converting to a lab and installing
multi-station software we will be able to teach specific skills to larger
groups of children. 15-computer site license of the Mavis Beacon keyboarding program. Salary for eight hours of certified time for a person to install the keyboarding programs and prepare computers for student use
