Corridor Elementary School

Corridor School is requesting funding to offset costs of Hult Center matinees which are performed specifically for area students. The Corridor performers are students with a range of theatrical abilities in grades 3 through 5. Please consider that this proposal encompasses many students in our district. Costs beyond our request are paid for by Corridor School.

Why is this project important?

Each year, about 970 students from area schools attend the matinees of the Corridor Musical Production at the Hult Center. The last cost for students before EEF support was $4.00 per seat.

Who, and how many, will be served?

Approximately 970 students will directly benefit from this money  which will go directly to the matinee patron user fees and labor fees. 

How will you evaluate the success of this project?

Success of this project is simply being able to continue to offer matinees for area students. This is a win-win proposal for all students as it broadens the educational experience for many students.

Does this proposal build upon existing programs at your school? 

Corridor has been performing at the Hult Center since 1982.  Matinee attendance by area students has been at capacity every year.  In fact, we have to turn groups away regularly because the performances are so well received.  Through feedback from teachers, we know that  the annual production provides a theme around which teachers weave a wide range of curriculum activities.  From thank you letters by students, we know that for some students, attending a performance at the Hult Center is a first time event. Corridor performances can expand educational opportunities by show casing theater as an exciting, creative and possible road to travel for any student.  Performing students demonstrate life skills and workplace expectations by working together as a team and entertaining in a professional venue.  The matinees are truly of the kids, by the kids and for the kids and should be accessible to the kids.

How will the funds be spent?

We request this funding to support the continuation of matinee performances for elementary students.
