Computers on Wheels Network

Twin Oaks Elementary School

We recently purchased a 30 laptop mobile lab from district and parent organization funds. To connect to the internet wirelessly additional hardware is required. The funds from this project will be used to purchase and install the necessary equipment to make the COW functional.

Why is this project important?

Twin Oaks has had a computer lab for many years. The lab is used by the whole school and scheduled most of each day. The addition of a mobile lab doubles the availability and turns every room in the school into a computer lab. Training our students to be computer literate is critical. The computer skills they learn at Twin Oaks will prepare them for extended learning they will do in the future and prepare them for a world that will depend even more on computer literacy.

Who and how many will be served?

Students and teachers from all grade levels benefit from the COW. All of our 235 students will use the COW.

How will you evaluate the success of the project?

The success of the project will be judged by how much use the COW gets during the school year and perceptions of teachers, students and parents.

Does the proposal build on existing programs at Twin Oaks?

This program builds on our commitment to technology.

How will the funds be spent?

Hardware.
