2007 Goal Surpassed

Donors surpassed all prior years, going more than $30,000 beyond the board’s goal of $750,000 for the year ending Dec. 31.

Every school received donor-earmarked gifts, and every school received one or more grants at the start of the 2007 school year.

“What a wonderful thing to get $1,000 for new sheet music,” said Paul Burch, fresh out of graduate school and in his first year of teaching.  His office in North Eugene High has a fair amount of music left by prior instructors, but he had little money in the budget to buy contemporary choral arrangements – until he and teachers at the other three buildings were awarded the Sing On! grant in October.

Most dollars came from individuals (the average annual gift was $360 and the median annual gift was $120) with the balance coming from foundations, trusts and other corporate entities.

Annual Campaign chairs in 2007 were Ruth & John Bascom and Tom & Sarah Bascom.
